Helena Bereen
I'm Helena Bereen, and I’m from Cullybackey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. I’ve had the chance to work in both film and theatre, and over the years, I've become pretty involved in the local arts scene here.
In 2020, in my seventies, I made my London stage debut in On McQuillian’s Hill, a play written by the late Joseph Crilly. The play dives into themes around the Good Friday Agreement, and I had the privilege of playing Mrs. Tymelly, a character who’s central to the story. The production also raised funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a charity focused on preventing male suicide, which made the project even more meaningful.
On the film side, I’ve appeared in a few projects over the years, like Hunger (2008), Made in Belfast (2013), The Devil's Doorway (2018), and Limbo (2019). More recently, I joined the cast of Blue Lights (2023) as Valerie, which has been really exciting!
I live in Belfast now and am still actively involved in the local theatre scene and various community events. It's a joy to continue contributing to Northern Ireland's cultural landscape.
